Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.
His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to force a final set.
The opponent defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
